JAKARTA - The government of Germany and Indonesia are ready to cooperate in the defense industry in the longterm. The cooperation is in the form of joint investment and joint production of military heavy industry. Furthermore the German Government is also committed to increasing cooperation with the government in various fields, especially trade and investment, health, education, environment, and defense.
This was stated by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Christian Wulff, in his official visit to Indonesia. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received the visit of President of the Federal Republic of Germany Christian Wulff at the State Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (01/12/2011).
According to Christian Wulff, Indonesia is an important partner of the German government and needs to be improved. Increased cooperation is related to the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Germany. Both leaders will discuss the various progress in bilateral cooperation Indonesia and Germany.
At the bilateral meeting, President Yudhoyono has filed five proposed cooperation to President Wulff. President Yudhoyono welcomed the proposal by President Wulff. The five proposals related to cooperation in the fields of investment and trade, health, education, environment, and defense.
Currently, Indonesia-German trade volume reached U.S. $ 6 billion, while investment in the last two years reached 300 million U.S. dollars. "Both numbers are still very able to be improved. Indonesia has the Masterplan Economic Development Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesia, and I invite Germany to become a strategic partner in Indonesia," Yudhoyono said.
In the health sector, the President underlined the importance of cooperation in the field of technology and health management. Moreover, the secondary economy in Indonesia is increasing so the need for health services is increasing.
In the health sector, the president said Indonesia needs to build thousands of engineering graduates and the country's infrastructure connectivity for 10 to 30 years.
