Slovakia intends to invest U.S. $ 1 billion in Indonesia

JAKARTA - Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic said the Slovak business community intends to invest in Indonesia worth more than 1 billion U.S. dollars. Investments will be made in various sectors, including energy and banking.

"A total of seven agreements will be signed tomorrow," said President Gasparovic at a press conference with President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday (10/10/2011). Before the news conference, the two heads of state hold a bilateral meeting.

Meanwhile, President Yudhoyono said the Indonesian government has delivered nine proposed agenda of cooperation between Indonesia and Slovakia.

The proposal includes cooperation in the field of food and agriculture, renewable energy development, trade and investment, banking, education, mass media, infrastructure and manufacturing, education, tourism, and culture.

"I underline the desire of private parties Slovakia to build a cement factory in Central Java and West Papua, tire plant in Banten, and power plants in Lombok and Batam," the president said.

President Yudhoyono and President Gasparovic also discussed international issues and global economy.

"I had expressed the hope that the situation in the Middle East and North Africa bsia well managed and war and violence is stopped, and civilians are protected. I hope that peaceful democratic process and submitted to the will of the people of the country concerned," he said. (*)
