Jakarta - Korea Electric Power Corporation (Kepco) is planning to build facilities Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Indonesia. South Korean companies set up investment of more than U.S. $ 2 billion.
"This project could be mutually beneficial. PLN facing gas shortage can be helped, and can cut energy costs," said General Manager of Kepco, Kim Young Saeng in the event of Indonesia-Korea Energy Forum in Jakarta on Thursday (06/30/2011).
Kepco will build the project of CNG from upstream to downstream. Kepco party is also working with Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas) and Korea National Oil Company (KNOC) in a series of refinery construction in the field of CNG to power Bojonegara, Banten.
"Development in the upstream sector, but also supplied to PLN for ammonia industry," he said.
Kim Sae Young added, it will also build CNG ships, facilities and charging processes, as well as storage at its power. To plant, planned to be built in Bojonegara with a capacity of 750 MW.
"Feasibility study (FS) of this project is complete and ready to be built," he said.
Lack of supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) or liquefied natural gas to make it change the 750 MW power plant is using CNG. Later the operation of the plant will cooperate with PT PLN (Persero).
Director General of Oil and Gas Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Evita Legowo respond very positively. "This is so good, so it seems Kepco already so rapihnya develop this," he responded.
According to Evita, Kepco can take CNG supply from several sources of gas in West Java. It plans to discuss this further with PLN, Pertamina, PGN, and Kepco. (*)
