Indonesia-Japan Agree on Mega Projects amount U.S. $ 59.2 Billion

TOKYO - After an intensive dialogue between the delegations of Indonesia and Japan, the governments of the two countries finally agreed to establish a new partnership. Mega Projects funded U.S. $ 59.2 billion is part of the Indonesian Economic Development Corridor (IEDC) will be used to build the economic corridors in the East-West Sumatra, Java Sea and the North Coast (coast).

"We agreed, we move forward in the implementation of a fund of U.S. $ 59.2 billion," said Coordinating Minister for Economy Hatta Rajasa told a news conference at the Keidanren Building, Tokyo, on Thursday (10/14/2010).

The press conference was attended by Hatta as representative of Indonesia and also Chairman of Kadin Bambang Suryo Sulisto. Meanwhile, the Japanese government's present Senior Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Tadahiro Matsushita.

Previously, discussions about an agreement that addresses each attended by delegations from both countries. Besides Suryo and Hatta, the representative of Indonesia is the Minister of Industry, MS Hidayat, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Darwin Z Saleh, Head of BKPM Gita Wiryawan, Deputy Transportation Minister Bambang Susantono, and Indonesian Ambassador to Japan M Lutfi.

Hatta said the two governments will further discuss how to have that much money can be met. But the agreement, the funds will be obtained from the government, society, and also private.

"It was an early figure that we will move," said Hatta.

Hatta said the outcome of this meeting has a strategic value and indicates the direction of economic development is not an integral part of development in our country. Hatta said earlier there are six economic corridor that has been studied.

"And this (cooperation) is an essential part of a strategy to develop inter-regional connectivity. We need to focus on a gradual but clear," said Hatta.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Kadin Suryo, in the same place declared its support for Japan's new commitment to this. Suryo was ready to support the necessary steps, including partnering through a patterns in an effort to realize the priorities of the program.

"We appreciate, Japan's commitment to this we are ready and fully supports the steps needed to partner through a patterns in an effort to realize the priority of an agreed program," said Suryo. (*)
