French prepare to Rp 10 trillion to target 10.000MW Project

JAKARTA-French investment in development projects targeting infrastructure and agro-industry in Indonesia. One of them, participate in the development of power projects 10.000MW second stage.

"One of them in the field of electricity. They want to continue participation in electricity projects. Maybe they know that Indonesia plans to build 10 thousand MW in the second year," explained a spokesman for Vice President Vice President Yopie Hidayat about meeting Boediono and French Delegation (Wednesday, 07/04/2010).

The Indonesian government confirms that it will not change the policy on Public Private Partnership. This raised questions related to the French Government about it.

In addition, France was also interested to build a port in Halmahera and build a railway network.

The two governments discussed the possibility of railway infrastructure projects, because the Government of Indonesia is currently designing a variety of programs to train. Priority commodities train outside Java to transport coal and oil. For passenger trains, in Java is still very much opportunity.

There are four reasons for the French delegation to invest in Indonesia. First of macroeconomic policies that have been proven prudent, very large domestic market, limited infrastructure that makes them have great opportunities to invest and a stable political factors.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of MEDEF (The Mouvement des Entreprises de France/ Gerakan Pengusaha Prancis) Thierry Courtaigne said there are two priorities in Indonesia, where France could invest in accordance with his expertise.

"First of infrastructure. We lead the world in infrastructure, shipping, electricity, and so forth. Then agroindustrial. This is a priority for your country. And we will share our expertise through Public Private Partnership," said Courtaigne.

While the French Ambassador Philippe Zeller can not say the total French investment into Indonesia. But today he mentioned a total investment of 150 companies in Indonesia amounted to Rp 10 trillion.

"Like The total investment in the Mahakam, Kalimantan. They're going to invest for six years in the future, and is negotiating. And the number of exports and imports between the two countries amounted to USD 20 trillion per year. And the French to sell more to Indonesia," said Zeller.(taz)
