Indonesia Need U.S. $ 11.4 billion Per Year For Electricity

JAKARTA - The Indonesian government requires an investment of U.S. $ 11.4 billion, or about Rp100 trillion per year for electricity in Indonesia can be lit. Today the use of electricity in Indonesia is still low at 66%.

Electrification Program Director of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Emy Perdanahari explain the growth of electricity demand is still high with an average 9.5 percent per year until 2029.

"Our estimates require substantial additional capacity, approximately 7800 MW per annum with an investment requirement of about U.S. $ 11.4 billion, or about 100 trillion per year," said Emy Perdanahari in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 8, 2010.

According to Emy, the National Electricity General Plan (RUKN)
2010-2029, for 20 years into the future requires an investment of up to 2,000 trillion. While the investment capabilities of State Electricity Company (PLN), according to Emy, is still limited. It required the involvement of the private sector to participate.

"The ability to invest PLN about 20 percent of the total estimated investment and government budget for infrastructure is very limited," Emy said.

Emy translate that much money to build power generation facilities throughout Indonesia as much as U.S. $ 200 million, construction of transmission lines and substations as much as U.S. $ 15 million and construction of distribution networks as much as U.S. $ 11.2 million.
