Indonesia Open Tender for Construction of Power Plant 4x1000MW amount USD 12 Billion

JAKARTA - Government of Indonesia by PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara/PLN (Persero) open tender for build two power plant projects in Java with a capacity of 4,000 MW. The projects are Java 5 and Java 7, with each capacity of 2x1000 MW.

For the power plant project with a capacity of 2 × 1000 MW is located at the western end of the island of Java, precisely in the District Bojonegara, Serang, Province Banten. Construction on the project using the scheme Independent Power Producer (IPP), for the development of Coal Fired Power Plant Java 7.

Director of PT PLN (Persero) Nur Pamudji said that, the two coal-fired power plant projects the incoming power development program second phase. Projects with an estimated investment of USD 12 billion is expected to commence operations in 2020.

PLN open pre-qualification for those who have experience related to electricity generation project with the scope and size are comparable, and qualified according to the criteria of business, technical, financial, as well as, legal.

The tender process for the selection of these measures is PLN more competitive. Invitation to participate in the pre-qualification phase is also presented on the potential investors.

Construction of power generation capacity of 10,000 MW per year expected to be able to meet the needs of 240.000MW until 2031. At present, the installed power capacity of around 50,000 MW power plant. The government relied on coal and natural gas to meet the primary energy needs of the plant. Utilization of coal and gas replacing expensive oil.

In 2015, the share of coal in the energy mix is targeted 57.33% or higher in 2014 compare 56.12%. The portion of the gas also increased from 22.95% to 23.21%. Meanwhile, parts of fuel, reduced from 9.7% to 8.53%.

In 2020, the share of coal is targeted to be 65%, gas 18%, and 1% oil. (*)
