South Korea to build steel plant amount U.S. $ 6 billion in Indonesia

Jakarta - South Korea invested amount U.S. $ 6 billion in Indonesia. Through a joint venture company PT Krakatau Steel Tbk and POSCO Korea, PT Krakatau Posco ready to build a steel plant in Cilegon.

Investment in the construction of the steel plate mill and slab roled coil valued at U.S. $ 6 billion is made in two stages. The early stages of U.S. $ 2.66 billion, or around Rp 23.9 trillion, while the second phase is remaining. In the first stage, the company has started construction and will be completed in late 2013

This was conveyed by President Director of Krakatau Posco, Kim Dong Him in company with the signing of the State Electricity Company (PLN) in the 150kV electrical power supply in Jakarta, Friday (02/17/2012).

"Our invetasi reached U.S. $ 6 billion and is divided into two phases. The first phase of U.S. $ 2.66 billion. The second phase is remaining," said Kim.

Krakatau Posco ready to produce two types of steel, the steel plate and steel slab. Most of the domestic steel market intended. "Our production plans 3 million tons. Plan began in December 2013," he said.

Steel plate and hot roled coil that will be produced Krakatau Posco respectively reached 1.5 million tons per year. "Our production of steel plate about 65% -70% for the domestic market. Remaining exports," said Kim.

"For the slab we are committed 1.5 million tonnes earmarked for Krakatau Steel. The remaining 0.5 million tonnes to Southeast Asia market," said Kim.

As is known, the construction of Phase I Krakatau Posco in July 2011, with the inauguration of the first pole erection of the project which was witnessed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

In this stage of development, the company also works with PLN to obtain a high voltage power supply 150 kV. This premium service is a form of energy quality service to electric installations owned by Posco.

Electric power is supplied up to 165 MVA and will be used in three phases. Phase I the company using the power of 80 MVA in November 2012. Phase II is supplied power 100 MVA in July 2013. The last phase, Posco will use the full power of 165 MVA in January 2014.

"The sale price agreed to Rp 810 per kWh. This is a price agreement with the scheme of special services. Selling price using a single tariff, where the selling price at the time of peak load (PLT) is equal to the current selling prices outside peak load time (LWBP)," said Director of Planning and Risk Management PLN, Murtaqi Syamsuddin.

"Signature of today are used to support the production seamlessly. We expect in 2013 is stable electric power supply in order to smooth production. Because we need the highest quality and stable power," added Kim. (*)
