Indonesia-US Working Group on Energy, Bali, July 23, 2011

JAKARTA - Located in Bali, on 23 July 2011 will be held Indonesia-US Working Group on Energy. This activity is part of the meeting of Indonesia Joint Commission Meeting II-U.S. planned to be attended by Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Delegation of Indonesia on Indonesia-US Working Group on Energy headed by Director General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Oil and Gas, Evita H. Legowo. While the U.S. delegation was led by Phyllis G. Yoshida.

During the meeting, both countries will conduct the discussion of policies on oil and gas, geothermal and renewable energy as well as capacity building. In addition, clean energy, investment cooperation projects for the public interest as well as methane to market.

Meeting Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) I Indonesia-US has been carried out on 17 September 2010. JCM is a key component of long-term commitment between President Obama to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to broaden, deepen and enhance bilateral relations between Indonesia and the United States to face the challenges of the 21st century.

The meeting was chaired by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa. Both countries agreed to form a joint commission which is part of a comprehensive partnership framework to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields in an effort to promote peace, stability and economic prosperity in Indonesia, the U.S. and the world.

Establishment of a joint commission was followed by the launch of the action plan Indonesia-US partnership that includes cooperation in the fields of politics, security, economic, development, social, cultural, education, science and technology. To implement the action plan, set up seven working groups, one of which is the working group on energy. Working group on energy is expected to discuss cooperation and enhance the energy sector of both countries. (*)
