PT PLN (Persero) requires funding of about U.S. $ 240 million to build Overhead Crossing Cable which connects the island of Java and Bali.
According to PLN's Director of Planning and Technology, Nasri Sebayang, Java-Bali Overhead Crossing that connects 500 kV HVAC-Banyuwangi Paiton-Gilimanuk-New ship will be completed in 2015.
"This cable can carry up to 1800 MW electricity to Bali," said Nasri, Tuesday (07/09/2010).
He said the construction of the cable will be divided into two stages. The first phase, the company will build two 376-meter-high towers, each of which are in Java and Bali. Then, the transmission operates an existing 150 KV and get into the substation Gilimanuk, Bali.
"In order for supply of electricity from Java to Bali for 300 MW could soon come in," he explained.
For the first stage, Nasri target will be completed in 2012 so that if the added supply of electricity from underwater cable that already exists at 160-200 MW, the supply from Java to Bali can reach 460-500 MW in the year.
While for phase two, PLN will build a 500 KV cable that connects Paiton to Bali. All stages are expected to be completed in 2015.
"Requirement of funds for these two stages around USS 240 million," he said.(*)
