PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero) needs two billion dollars or around Rp18 trillion to develop a geothermal power plant in Indonesia with an installed capacity of 1000 Megawatts.
"The source of those funds from the loan from the UK, France, Germany, Japan and the World Bank, with the addition of electricity supply targets for 1000 mega watts in 2014," said Director of PGE Pertamina Poernomo after delivering aid to communities in Ibun, Bandung, Sunday afternoon.
He explained, in the near future geothermal power plants which will soon be tilled is Karaha Bodas with a capacity of 30 Megawatts, will be built also in various geothermal resources that already exist which Lahendong in North Sulawesi, Sibayak, Ulubelu in Lampung, Lumutbalai, Hululais, Kotamubagu , and Full River in Jambi.
According to him with the Ministerial Decree number 32/2010 of Energy, the price of electricity from the plant to PLN was pegged at 9.7 cents per KWH, the development of geothermal power plants was a very decent.
The problem according to him, is the network range from PLN to reach the point-point PLTP could not be located too far from existing geothermal resources, as well as the absence of interconnection throughout Sumatra and other islands, as well as Java-Sumatra interconnection.
"We'll just see where that allows to work with first, because the electricity generated must also be distributed," he said.
One of the constraints of geothermal development, according to him, is the problem of overlapping land use by nearly 60 percent of Pertamina Geothermal geothermal reserves in the conservation of forest by forest conservation law can not be bothered.
Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero), founded in 2006 has been mandated by the government to develop 15 Geothermal Working Areas in Indonesia. Companies that provide this energy without pollution, 90% owned by PT Pertamina (Persero) and 10% owned by PT Pertamina Dana Ventura.
Pertamina already has management rights over 15 Working Area of Operations (WKP) with total geothermal potential of 8480 MW, equivalent to 4392 mmboe. From these WKP 15, 10 acreage is managed by PT Pertamina, namely (1) Kamojang: 200 MW, (2) Lahendong: 60 MW, (3) Sibayak: 12 MW, (4) Ulubelu, (5) Lumutbalai, (6) Hululais, (7) Kotamubagu, (8) and Full River (9) Iyang Argopuro and (10) Karahabodas. Three of them have been producing area with a total capacity of 272 MW, equivalent to 12 900 BOEPD. The rest are managed together with partners in production with a total of 922 MW. (*)
