Takeover of Bank Century by Deposit Insurance Corporation (DIC)

Commencing today, Friday 21st November 2008, PT. Bank Century Tbk is to be taken over by the Deposit Insurance Corporation (DIC). The bank will continue to operate as a Foreign Exchange Bank providing banking services to its customers.

The takeover by the Deposit Insurance Corporation is expected to improve security and boost the quality of service offered to customers. The new management team, established from professionals, has been instructed to manage and enhance bank performance.

Not long ago, investor interest in the acquisition of this bank was forthcoming. However, due to the protracted acquisition process and in order to provide security and avoid uncertainty among the Bank’s customers, the Government and Bank Indonesia, through the Financial System Stability Committee, agreed upon the takeover of the Bank by DIC.

To ensure an orderly transition of power, today, Friday 21st November 2008, PT. Bank Century Tbk will not be processing any bank transactions for its customers. Nonetheless, on Monday 24th November 2008, PT. Bank Century Tbk will resume full operation, including clearing and RTGS activities.

All employees of PT. Bank Century Tbk are requested to report for work as usual in line with their respective duties and cooperate fully with the new management.

Bank Indonesia will continue to monitor developments in the Indonesian financial sector, which is currently robust and stable.
